It's been too long since I have added anything here on my blog, my apologies. I do have some new items that I will share with you and also some super tips on the use of Facebook.
Facebook first, if you have a business page, which I do, you don't get notified when someone comments on your page, photos or your comments. That is unless you tag the photos with your personal page name. How simple is that. All of that information was shared through other great people on Facebook. I am so excited about the Gift Exchange. We now have 22 people that have joined so we are a third of the way there. I have started compiling the book and that is going great. I still need some information from most of those that have signed up, so please send me that info ASAP. My Sister's Birthday

About 4 years ago I had a dream about a gift for my sister's birthday, a real night time dream. This was the dream. Step 1: I would start a gift chain by sending one of my jewelry creations to the first person along with my picture and a picture of the item. Step 2: That person would then send one of their creations or something that you find interesting that someone would like to receive, to the next person on the list along with their picture and a picture of the item. The item can be something that signifies where you come from, such as if you are from India you could send a Sari, etc. You can email the pictures to your recipient if you prefer. Then send me through email or mail those pictures. Every person on the list would follow step 2. This year my sister turns 63 so I need 62 people to join me in this. Every person would end up with a gift and at the end my sister will be the last one to receive the gift along with the pics of the other creations and of the Beautiful people that created them in the form of a book. You can include any information that you want. A little story about yourself or not, totally up to you. The list will be in the order of emails received and I will let you know who to send your gift and pictures to. Please join me in this fun Birthday surprise for my sister. I think we will all have fun and even get some business exposure along the way. Merluvlee will go to the first one that joins. The rest of my dream was to see my Sister go through the book and see all the items that she didn't receive and wish that she had. I'm sweet and sour!!!!

Love the color of these earrings! Tammy is a busy Mom that works outside of the home plus makes her beautiful jewelry in what little spare time she has and enjoys spending time with her 2 young daughters and her husband. I know from my own experience as an artist, it isn't just creating the jewelry and art, it is photographing, listing on line, selling at local venues and marketing yourself. Steampunk SNOOKS

I just finished this little lady titled "The Key To What A Girl Wants". This one started out with this gorgeous pewter colored pendant with pearl accents and a gorgeous scalloped edge. On top of that I added a vintage Elgin Watch Face along with a vintage skeleton key and topped that with this beautiful winged brooch and then finished it off with one of my hand painted fused glass faces. The skeleton key is accented by this row of rhinestones and silver.

This weeks featured artist is Robin Hartman of Snips & Snails Etsy Shop . Robin is a mother of two toddlers which inspires many of her crafts. Aside from being a wife, mother, and artisan, she also teaches College English part-time and she has a Masters in British Literature. As for her creations she runs an Etsy store, Snips & Snails. Her specialty is in cross stitching and pattern design but she dabbles in a little bit of everything: jewelry design, bead work, decoupage, crochet, polymer clay, card making, rubber stamping, and plastic shrink.

3 New SNOOKS

Here are 3 new SNOOKS (Sweet Novel Original One of a Kind Sensations) ready for adoption! These little ladies are such a hoot!
This one is "Above The Clouds". I just love her wings and her body that is rhinestone encrusted. Then there is the faux peals that represent the clouds.

This one is just too funny, she is called "My Legs Are Too Short". She is surrounded by rhinestones and Swarovski glass crystal around her neck.

This one is called "Blushing Pearl". She is made from a vintage filigree brooch that is accented with the prettiest shade of pink pearls.

INTRODUCING "SNOOKS"

These little ladies I call "SNOOKs"(Sweet Novel One of a Kind Sensations). Each Snook is made using one of my hand painted fused glass faces along with some of my other found treasures. Each one is truly one of a kind. The first little Snook is called Madeline. I love her expression and her wings are a combination of enamel and rhinestones. Her dress is an antiqued brass pendant.

This little Snook is called (Time Keeper). She started out with a silver pendant as the backdrop with a vintage Elgin Watch Face attached. One of my original hand painted fused glass faces is attached and then this gorgeous enamel and rhinestone encrusted bee finishes her off. As a finished touch I then added orange and green Swarovski glass crystals around her neck.

This little Snook is called "Twinkle Toes". Her wings are absolutely gorgeous. They are a beautiful peachy coppery color and it looks like stained glass. Two little pearls hang from a copper chain which looks like she is dancing.

I will be adding more in the next few days.

Living in the cold North we don't get the pretty colorful birds but we do get the Orioles and they love Grape Jelly. Not only do the Orioles love it so do just about every other bird. Barbara Ellis has done it again, she has created the most original and beautiful beaded necklace. Just in time for the roll out of the movie "Alice In Wonderland". Her version of the White Queen. Two New Painted Ladies

I finally was able to finish 2 new painted ladies, "The Lottery Numbers Are..." and "Sheaba Of The Deep Blue Sea". I was sick all last week with a cold, so not much work was done.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I have been preoccupied with new creations. I have so many ideas in my head, I have become obsessed with creating new items. Hopefully I will be able to show you some of them soon. I started going to the Gym right after Christmas and I believe that the blood is finally getting to my brain. Here are some of the new pendants that I have been working on. I have used photos my original artwork, from previous hand painted pendants, and digitally enhanced them. I then adhered them to a domino and them put a clear glass like finish on them. On these I have drilled a hole on the side for a chain to go through. The sides and backs have been painted and accented. You can't tell from the photos, but they are shiny.

Prancer Time

Here is another one of the Steampunk Creations. This one is called "Prancer Time". This one started out with a beautiful black pendant circle with a beautiful lace design. I then added a vintage Watch Face and then added this beautiful Crystal Rhinestone Reindeer. I added a vintage watch gear and placed one of my painted fused glass faces in that. I added another watch gear and the vintage watch hands that point to her. Hence her name "Prancer Time".

Two New Designs

If you know Swarovski Crystals then you know these look much better than I can photograph. These pendants catch the light like no other. I don't take credit for that, it's the Swarovski Crystals. But I do love the daintiness of these necklaces. I'm still working on some other fused projects. Hopefully those will be ready soon.

Partridge in a Pear Tree Steampunk

I just finished this steampunk necklace. I love the old world look of it and that you can wear this with several different colors. The partridge is one of the small hand painted fused glass cabs that I make. Still working on some other projects that are taking longer than I thought. Hopefully I will have those ready to show soon.

Egyptian Queen Steampunk

Here is another one of my mixed media steampunk pendants. You can wear this one as a pendant or as a brooch. I love the colors on this one, beautiful iridescent orange and brown accented with a lot of rhinestones and vintage watch parts. Love the vintage watch spring that accents her forhead.

A Mermaid!

I haven't painted a mermaid in ages, so I decided to paint one. I call this one "Pearl of the Sea", she is holding a pearl in the palm of her hand. Then I painted "Christmas Holly" and "Halo Angel". I have some new ones that I hopefully will have completed by tomorrow, they will be "Windows to my Garden" series. Here are the pics of my new painted ladies.

I can't believe we are already into November! Today is absolutely gorgeous, sunny, light breeze and around 50 degrees, not bad for November. The Halloween Drawing was last night and the winner is Hollie Duckworth from Georgia. Hollie won a Dichroic Pendant Slider of her choice. Now I will have to turn my attention to Christmas. I've already started Christmas shopping and not a minute too soon. My online store has gotten off to a great start. The First Christmas Witch of the Season

I know it's too early, but with all the snow on the news, I just had to paint the first Christmas Witch of the Season. She is called "Holly" and then I made "Dresdan, The Winter Angel", "Violet Eyes" and "Gothic Burgundy". I should have them on Etsy and Artfire later today.

I thought since I have entered the world of creating steampunk jewelry I should explain or atleast direct you to someone that can explain Steampunk. Honestly I couldn't even start to explain it and make sense of it. So instead I am giving you a place to go to read about it from someone that has a better understanding than I do. I'm into creepy crawling things

Well not all of them are creepy! Here are my newest steampunk mixed media pieces. The first one I love, mostly because these are my favorite colors. The browns and rust and gold are perfect for this time of year. I call this one "Creeping Time Steampunk". The back is just as pretty as the front.

The next one is "How many frogs do have to kiss....". This was a fun one to do. Started out with a very nice large silver filigree circle, then I attached this fantastic vintage watch face. Added the painted fused glass face with tiny watch screws for the hair and then added this beautiful frog. The frog shines with crystal rhinestones and the blue cat eye stone is gorgeous.

Can you believe this weather!

We are definitely in fall weather, cold, windy, rainy.... Hard to stay in a good mood wi th this type of weather. Which probably explains my 3 new pendants. They are all on the dark side (color that is). I will have some really cool steampunk creations by tomorrow, but for now here are the 3 newbies. "Ghouls Night Out", "Twylight" and "Witch Haven, Fright Night".

FINALLY HAVE SOME TIME

It's been one of those weeks, started out with plenty of time and then poof, not enough. Thought I would have more to show you but only a few.

The first one is "I See One...", she is a fortuneteller and I have no idea what she sees, maybe you know. Then I had several special orders so I will show you those. I am now working on some mixed media pieces and steampunk pieces. I should have those completed soon.

The Witching Hour Steampunk

Here is my newest steampunk creation. I call it "The Witching Hour". This was my first attempt at using polymer clay and I love it. I made her hat and hair out of the clay. Much easier to use than I thought. Love the vintage watch partial plate that I used for her body. The writing on it has a whimsical look to it. I'm just finishing up some other ones that should be ready by tomorrow. Have a great evening.

Here are 4 new Halloween pendants. The first one is "Trick or Treat Candi". I love her, she looks a little lost and sad, she doesn't have any candy in her pumpkin. Poor girl! Then there is "Who". Gwendolyn is asking Who The Owl to go to the Witch's Ball. Let's not forget the Masquerade Ball, "Ebony and Ivory" are going to the ball together. Then to round it all out for the holiday is "Sphinx the Fortuneteller".

First Place at the Ohio State Fair

One of my customers, Joanne Jepson, bought one of my painted fused glass cabochons and then did an incredible job of beading around it and making a necklace. I love the way it turned out. Evidently I'm not the only one. She entered it in the Ohio State Fair and won 1st place. How cool is that. She did an awesome job. I can't wait to see what she does with the next one.

WIND ME UP STEAMPUNK

Here's another new steampunk creation. The one I called "Wind Me Up" because she looks a little too relaxed. Anyway she started out with a beautiful butterfly pendant and I added one of my painted fused glass faces added some vintage watch parts and rhinestones. Her green eyes capture the green in the butterfly wings.

This one is Fall and Halloween inspired. Something about the layout of this one with the pointed metal filigree behind the head made me think of Dracula's collar. Love the citrine rhinestones set along the topaz stones of the filigree antique brass tone metal setting. Her face is Asian inspired with a more worldly look to her.

Gearing up for Halloween

Here are a couple of new painted fused glass cabochons that I just finished. They are leading into the Halloween season. I can't believe that I am saying that. I have already been subconsciously humming Christmas music. It's been chillier than normal here so I figure that is why. Anyway here are the two new ones, "Just Me and Magpie" and "Poof, You're an Old Crow".

Another new one but not for Halloween. I call this one "Queen Bee". Love the filigree on this one.

Don't screw with me steampunk pendant!

I just finished this little lady! I love the hair! I used these tiny little vintage watch screws for her hair. They have a lot of patina. She is made of about 90% vintage watch parts, starting with her arms or wings, love them. Notice the writing on them and the one is written in script. Then there is her body which is a vintage watch. Her legs are also a piece of vintage watch part which I then added the lavender rhinestone. A piece of a vintage earring accents her body. Her face is attached to another piece of watch backing which allows her head to rotate side to side.

Vegas Show Girl

I thought this was the funniest one yet. The minute I started trying to figure out what to do with this I knew, Vegas Show Girl. The colors and the way the rhinestones spread out it just shouted out, VEGAS. So this is LaLa Gotmore.

Then I had this darling little rhinestone brooch. She has long wings and a tiny body, feet and hands. So of course she is "Still growing into her wings". They will both be up on Etsy by tomorrow.

It's Cold Outside!

ANGEL TO WATCH OVER ME STEAMPUNK

I just finished this little angel. She started out with a reproduction metal filigree backing, attached a few vintage watch gears then added the painted fused glass face. I then added the watch parts for her body and accented the feet with two tiny rhinestones and added the vintage earring bauble and she is done. I love the watch parts for her body. They have clear writing on them and a little design.

I'm off to play rest of the day. It's our anniversary on Monday so we are taking the day to go have fun.

Egyptian Queen Steampunk

Here's the newest addition to my steampunk pendants. This one started out with a beautifully colored Egyptian moth motif brooch. Hand painted indigo blue enamel wings, adorned with iridescent clear and sapphire blue crystal rhinestones. I then added a filigree backing for the painted fused glass face. Added the gears and the watch pin over her eye and she is done.

Chained to Time Steampunk

Here is the newest Steampunk creation. I'm not sure of the name yet, "Peal Jam" is the first name that came to mind, then "Chained to Time". Anyway here it is. This one started out with a vintage brooch, the small pearl is a real pearl, I then added the vintage watch and the gears. The larger half pearl with the teardrop pearl is a vintage earring. I added a large silver bail and here it is.

Steampunk Bracelet

I'm not sure what to name this one yet, but here she is. I used a vintage lady watch band, vintage watch gears, a filigree back and of course the painted lady face and a little bling with glass beads. She was a lot of fun to create. Now if I can just come up with a name!

This is a great time of year. There are festivals of all kinds all around us. Blueberry Festival, Venetian Festival, Youth Fair, Arts on the Bluff....it's been great. I should have a couple more items by tomorrow.

Natural Bug Spray

Recently we have been doing a lot of outdoor entertaining and in doing so we have to contend with those flying pests. I use a concoction that I mix up that really works and smells good. Spray as you need it around the perimeter of the area you are going to be entertaining in.
In a spray bottle mix a couple of drops of dish soap, about a half teas. lemon juice and water. That's it! I keep it on hand all summer. Let me know how it works for you.

I should have some new pendants within the next couple of days, but in the meantime I thought I would share some of my photos from my garden. My other great hobby, photography.

THE SECRET GARDEN

Inspired by gardens that we visited over the weekend I painted this little lady with a dragonfly, called "The Secret Garden". Then there is "Francine" which thinks that the future looks a little bleak!

Hope all is well with everyone. The weather here is fantastic. It's like late spring! I am loving the fresh vegetables and fruits that we are getting right now. Just wish it could be all year.
Hopefully I should have more pendants tomorrow.
